The Dark Street 50Watching the market fluctuations of the past few weeks has made one thing clear. The markets know about Bitcoin but still do not have a good handle on the rest of the Cryptocurrency Market. The bloggers at Dark Street decided it was time for a cryptocurrency index.

Using the Berkeland Villecco Allocation Method the Dark Street 50 is designed to reflect the top 50 largest and most meaningful cryptocurrencies so that the who market can be tracked beyond just Bitcoin. Bitcoin is still a large part of the market but as is illustrated in the market share of Dark Street 50 there are now other meaningful cryptocurrencies that should not be discounted. In particular Ethereum and Ripple each have a large share and the other currencies in aggregate account for 31% of the index. The Berkeland Villecco Allocation Method used to select the currencies is not intended to comment on a currencies performance or endorse them in any way. The selection of the currencies was only due to their weight in terms of market cap.
The Units of Dark Street 50 will be fixed for the year until being rebalanced using the Berkeland Villeco allocation method based on the metrics of Feb 5, 2019 and go live on Feb 6, 2019. The selection of these cryptocurrencies is not an endorsement of them, they are selected for only informational purposes.

The selected 50 Currencies and their Units will remain constant throughout the year, however their prices will alter which will cause the overall value of the Dark Street 50 to rise and fall. The values and subsequent weightings will also fluctuate with the prices of the selected cryptocurrencies.
There are currently no Index Mutual Funds or ETFs following the Dark Street 50 Index. (As of Feb 6, 2018).
